To Whom it May Concern
J.B. System Limited is a manufacturing company situated in England and established in 1986. Products and services are follows.
FLAME MONITORING
The IRIS Uniscan is a simpler version of the IRIS 500 and is for use on process heaters.
The IRIS 500 flame monitoring systems is a sophisticated solid state electronic unit for detecting the presence of flame in industrial gas, oil and coal fired boilers. Typical applications are found in the petro/chemical and power generation industries. This equipment has been successfully evaluated by BP at the Sunbury testing facility.

IGNITION SYSTEMS
Ignition/Detection
For interfacing between a central control systems and process burners we offer custom-built ignition/detection enclosures. These can be in safe area of hazardous area enclosures. Typically the system will comprise a high-tension ignition transformer and some form of flame detection as described in the above paragraph.
Control Systems
Although the capability exists to produce systems for most types of control application, the company has tended to specialise in the combustion/burner control market.
Panels and systems are produced either from customer designs or designs produced on the company's CAD facility in house.
Panels are either purchased from ATX, or in some cases, are specially manufactured.

The IRIS
UNISCAN is a fail-safe flame monitor and amplifier, mounted completely
into one enclosure. Its purpose is to monitor gas or oil flames in
process heaters, or smaller utility boilers.
The operating voltage range is 18 to 27 VDC, so that losses or fluctuations
in the line voltage have no effect within these parameters.
The flame on output is a 24 VDC signal. There is also a 4 to 20 mA
analogue signal output, suitable for driving a flame signal meter,
or chart recorder.
As well as gain and drop out time adjustments, a high band pass filter
with four positions is provided for better discrimination.
A separate DIN rail mounting power supply module, to provide a 24
Vdc output from a 115/230 Vac input is available if required.

General
Description
The
IRIS 500 is a sophisticated flame monitoring system having a variety of applications,
but is particularly successful in the more difficult situations, where discrimination
proves to be a problem.
The flame amplifier comprises a mother board, an analogue
signal processor. The analogue board contains the circuitry required to produce
a flame on/off output, an analogue flame signal intensity meter, hysteresis ration
selection switch and flame out delay timing, adjustable 1 to 6 seconds.
The
digital board is composed of a 4 digit LED display, and two 4 digit set point
switches - one for flame on threshold and one for flame off.
The function
of the analogue board is to provide the flame on / off safety channel. The digital
board, which is not required for the basic operation of the system, can be used
in conjunction with, or separate to, the analogue board to provide diagnostic
or additional control function.
VIEWING
HEADS
Four viewing heads are available.
The UV head in which self
checking is accomplished by a mechanical shutter, is suitable for use on gas and
light oil flames. Its spectral response is 185 to 300 nm.
In the IR, IRGS
and IRX2 viewing heads, the self checking is achieved by using an electronic switch
- hence there are no moving parts. Failure of a component in any mode, will cause
the output realy to de-energise.
All 3 respond to the high flicker frequency
of the flame. It is this AC flicker which generates the signal which is essential
if good discrimination is to be achieved. The IR viewing head employs a silicon
photodiode, and has a spectral response of 200 to 1080 nm. Its primary function
is for use on large multi burner boilers firing heavy oil and P.F.
The IRGS viewing head employs a germanium photodiode with a spectral response
of 750 to 1900 nm. It has been specially designed for operation on applications
where gas and oil are fired individually of together.
The IRX2 twin channel viewing head uses a sillcon/lead sulphide two
colour detector, having a wide spectral response of 350 to 3000 nm.
It is particularly successful in detecting difficult fuels, such as
H2S, where masking of the lower frequencies can cause nuisance shutdowns.
FEATURES

The
IRIS 600 flame ionisation relay is used in conjuction with a flame rod to detect
the presence of a flame. It incorporates the following features:
Ten segment bargraph display to indicate flame strength. The flame relay will
